Dubiken – Views, Winter Sports and Historical Traces

Dubiken Between the Hills, Views and History

The focal point is Dlouhý vrch: at 551 metres, the mountain is part of the gentle Lišovský práh ridge and shapes the landscape around Dubičné. The Dubičné viewpoint is located on Dlouhý vrch. From there, you can enjoy views across the entire city of České Budějovice. The ridge forms the natural setting for the city view, while the viewpoint directs the gaze across this landscape to the entire city. On a visit, you can consider the place from two perspectives: as part of Lišovský práh and as a viewpoint overlooking České Budějovice.

Views and Winter Sports on Dlouhý vrch

Paragliding continues to take place on Dlouhý vrch near Dubičné. There are also two ski lifts: a 71-metre children's lift and a 340-metre main lift. The ski slope is prepared with a piste groomer and is lit for night skiing. The two lift lengths make the routes directly comparable. The illuminated ski slope complements the lift routes with night skiing. This allows you to weigh up the route and timing separately when planning your day. The mountain thus combines views over České Budějovice with a winter sports offering that includes both a children's lift and a longer lift route.

You can reach the foot of Dlouhý vrch by car; from there, a direct footpath of about 500 metres leads to the viewpoint. The final section is therefore on foot and can be planned as a separate part of the excursion. In this way, you can combine the drive to the mountain with the city view from the viewpoint and the other landscape features around Dubičné.

Chapel, Mining and Historic Waterways

The Chapel of Saint Anthony and the Virgin Mary, built in 1834, stands in the village square of Dubičné. Its location in the village forms a different setting from the ridge with its views and winter sports. The remains of the historic water canal are still visible in the Děkan and Prantlák forests near Dubičné. The David mine was the largest of the local silver mines and was about 80 metres deep. The Terezina adit was driven through the wooded valley of the Vrátecký potok, which was formerly called Tereziným údolím. The village square, forests and valley thus represent different historical traces in and near Dubičné.
