Val on the Nežárka: Protected Areas, Village Character and Activities

Val lies on the Nežárka at the northwestern edge of the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area and is historically documented as early as 1413. River Landscape and Protected Nature

Val’s most important natural assets include the undeveloped floodplains of the Lužnice and Nežárka rivers and the Nadějská soustava. The European protected area Nadějská soustava includes the cadastral area of Val u Veselí nad Lužnicí. It comprises depressions formed by marshy subsoil as well as habitats of the ash checkered beetle and the Eurasian otter. Open floodplains and landscape formations shaped by marshy subsoil therefore exist alongside habitats defined by specific animal species.
