Tálín: Cycling Routes, Hiking Trails and Historical Traces

Tálín is an interesting destination for you if you would like to combine active days with regional history and traditional events. Cyclists will find a clearly described route towards Kukle and onward to Nový Dvůr. Hiking trails also pass through Kukle and connect Tálín with other notable points. Those travelling with children or several generations can also combine their stay with sporting events and a varied exploration of the region’s history.

Cycling between Tálín, Kukle and Nový Dvůr

The marked cycle route No. 1146 leads from Tálín towards Kukle. After Kukle, the cycle route continues in a northwesterly direction below the Písecké hory as far as Nový Dvůr. The sequence of locations gives you a concrete point of reference for planning a cycling tour, without having to limit yourself to a single attraction. The route can therefore be structured around these destinations: Tálín is the starting point, Kukle lies along the continuation of the route, and Nový Dvůr marks the described endpoint.

Sporting events are also part of Tálín’s character. The Tálínský triatlon takes place every year in July. Sporting events in Tálín are aimed at all age groups – from young children to seniors – as well as athletes with physical disabilities. Kukle was listed as the venue for the Galaxy CykloŠvec Maraton on 13 June 2026. The race was scheduled as the third race of the Auto-Vinkler-Jihočeský-MTB-Cup and the Galaxy Series.

Hiking trails with various starting points

A yellow-marked hiking trail passes through Kukle from Tálín to the crossroads at Němec Pond. Another yellow-marked hiking trail begins at Putim railway station and connects Hůrky with the Písecké hory. These starting and destination points help you plan a hike according to your preferred focus: you can use Tálín and Kukle as reference points, or include Putim railway station, Hůrky and the Písecké hory in your plans.

Historical traces in Kukle

Kukle offers several specific points of interest for exploring cultural history. At the Kukle archaeological site, a fragment of a gold-sheet artefact was found that had been placed as a grave good. A settlement from the same period was identified on the opposite bank of the Tálínský potok. The site and the settlement are thus connected by an explicitly documented chronological context, without this allowing any further conclusions about opportunities for visiting the site today.

The more recent history of the village is also tangible. The mill in Kukle records the miller Alois Novotný in 1872. One of the brickworks in Kukle was in operation approximately from 1920 to 1939. The second brickworks ceased operations in 1939. This creates a diverse historical picture for you: archaeological finds, a mill with a person identified by name in the records, and the development of the brickworks belong to different periods, but are concentrated in the described contexts around Kukle.

Traditions throughout the year

At the end of September, the Václavská pouť is traditionally held in the municipality of Tálín. Together with the Tálínský triatlon in July, this date shows that when planning your trip, you can take the events calendar into account alongside cycling and hiking trails. Tálín is therefore particularly suitable for visitors who do not view a small municipality merely as a starting point for activities, but also want to discover its regional traditions and historical traces.
