The Nerestský lom natural monument encompasses parts of the cadastral territories of Horosedly and Dolní Nerestce. It consists of two larger and several smaller disused limestone quarries. The protected feature is a disused limestone quarry with rock vegetation and dry grassland vegetation. The natural monument also forms part of the site of European importance “Nerestský lom”, with the code CZ0310084. Nerestský lom is home to species-rich communities of animals and plants, including the Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo), the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus), the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina) and several plant species. The combination of former extraction sites, rock vegetation and dry grassland makes the natural area varied, while it retains its clearly recognizable character as a disused limestone landscape. The diversity ranges from birds and amphibians to several plant species, allowing different types of nature observation to take place side by side. The location is clearly defined for orientation: Nerestský lom lies approximately 1 km northeast of Dolní Nerestce. By car, access is possible without restrictions to within 250 m of the site. Cultural Details in Nerestce and Dolní Nerestce

Buchtobraní: Baking and Socializing

Buchtobraní is a recurring baking event in Nerestce featuring competitions in several categories. At Buchtobraní, Easter specialties such as Mazanec and Easter filling, as well as an open category, were the focus. A get-together for participants was planned to conclude Buchtobraní. Alongside nature and cultural topics, a baking event with a competition and a shared closing gathering is therefore also a central feature.
