Discover Hájky: Masopust, Chapel and Stádlecký Bridge

Hájky is a destination for you if you would like to combine village history, regional traditions and routes to special cultural sites. The Chapel of Saint Donát has been restored. The Stádlecký Bridge, considered the last Empire-style bridge in the Czech Republic, is also located in the surrounding area. Together with the events in Hájky and Slavňovice, this creates a destination that combines culture and active exploration in a manageable way.

Masopust and events around Hájky

The Masopust procession in Hájky and Slavňovice took place in both 2022 and 2023. On Saturday, 19 February 2022, a Masopust procession accompanied by a band began there at 9 a.m., with a total of 30 masks. On 11 February 2023, another Masopust took place in Hájky and Slavňovice from 9 a.m.; a total of 29 masks took part, including local residents and people from the surrounding area. This is an interesting cultural aspect to consider when planning your trip if, in addition to the landscape and trails, you would also like to take local customs into account.

Below Hájky, between Stádlec and Slavňovice, lies the football pitch of TJ Sokol Stádlec. The Pašafest music event, Children's Day and other community events take place on this pitch irregularly, approximately once a year in summer. The dates are therefore a separate aspect of choosing the location and complement the historical sights with community events.

Local history and a distinctive bridge

The historical development of the place name also makes Hájky interesting for curious visitors. In 1869, Hájky was recorded under the name Hájkov; between 1900 and 1910, the forms Hájky and Hájko appear. Stádlecký Bridge, considered the last Empire-style bridge in the Czech Republic, is located in the surrounding area. Stádlecký Bridge is accessible year-round and is also open to cyclists.

Hiking and cycling from Stádlecký Bridge

Several hiking trails start at Stádlecký Bridge. A red-marked trail runs upstream to Příběnice Castle or as far as Tábor. Downstream, red or blue trails lead to Dobronice Castle; from there, a red trail continues to Bechyně. This allows you to compare different directions for planning your day without committing to a single sight. In addition, the workout fitness area is officially called “Odpočívka cyklostezky”; it was built in 2019.

If you are looking for accommodation in Hájky, you can use the main focus of your trip as a guide: Is local history to be the central theme, are you more interested in the events, or would you like to explore the trails starting at the bridge? These objectives offer different starting points without requiring you to reduce the entire surrounding area to a single type of trip.
