Hiking Trails between Blatnice and Těchobuz
For a longer tour, the 22 km Bolzanova cesta hiking trail is available. It runs from Mladá Vožice via Blatnice and Těchobuz to Pacov. A more compact option is the “Mozaika krajiny” nature trail: it begins in Těchobuz and follows a blue-marked hiking route to the Blatnice pond complex. The nature trail is 2.5 km long and takes approximately one hour. Six information panels cover ecosystems, fauna and flora, giving the route a focus on natural history.
A recommended hiking route also passes through a recreational area with numerous forest ponds and continues to Těchobuz. Anyone who would like to explore the pond landscape in a playful way can follow the “Blatnicke rybniky” multicache. The roughly half-day tour leads through the pond landscape between Mladá Vožice and Pacov. The different route lengths help you choose between a short nature observation walk, an extended hike and a longer discovery tour, depending on your planned itinerary for the day.
Ponds, Waterways and Waterbirds
Swimming is possible in Kozák Pond next to Blatnice campsite. The campsite grounds also have a jetty and access to the pond; canoes, a kayak and rowing boats are available for free use. Around Blatnice, the ponds are connected by water channels, some of them underground. You can explore the landscape on foot or by bicycle along paved and forest paths.
The pond landscape near Blatnice is considered a habitat for waterbirds, including black storks, grey herons, kingfishers and several species of ducks. In addition to exercise and water-based activities, this natural area also offers opportunities for anyone who would like to combine their outings with observing wildlife.
Mills and Traces of the Past
Kozákův mlýn stands in the centre of Blatnice on the Blatnice watercourse. Its history goes back a long way: it has been documented in church registers since 1639. Another historical trace can be found at Kačer Pond. At the beginning of the 17th century, Šimon Kačer’s mill stood there; it was recorded in 1620 in the land register of the Mladá Vožice estate. Together with the trails and ponds, these places give the surroundings a cultural dimension that can be combined with nature excursions.
