Dražičky – History, Cultural Heritage and Hiking Trails

Dražičky combines rural cultural heritage with a multifaceted history and marked trails through the landscape. For families and other travelers who choose their stay not only based on a location but also on exciting discoveries, the municipality offers several different points of interest: medieval traditions, a chapel with a visible date, a burial mound field with 91 burial mounds, and historic routes.

History of Dražičky

The surviving archives first mention Dražičky in 1379. In the 14th century, the village belonged to the Příběnice estate. This connection places the early history of Dražičky in a specific historical context, without requiring you to rely on a merely general description of the region.

Another notable chapter is the history of the Dražičky fortress. It was built between 1565 and 1589. The fortress was later demolished and probably replaced by a manor house in the 17th century. This chronology makes the fortress history a separate topic for your trip planning: construction in the second half of the 16th century was followed by a later alteration of the site.

Chapel and Archaeological Cultural Heritage

The chapel stands in the center of Dražičky on the village square. Its sandstone portal bears the date 1841 on the keystone. The chapel was also reconstructed in 2006–2007. Several layers of time come together in this building: the 19th-century portal and the much later reconstruction.

Another historical site is the Široká alej burial mound field in Dražičky, which is also known as “V rybníčkách.” It comprises 91 burial mounds. No specific information about visiting or access is available here.

Hiking Trails with Historical Connections

The yellow-marked hiking trail from Tábor to Příběnice follows the historic route through Dražičky today, with minor changes. The route therefore combines a current trail marking with an explicitly documented historic course. Another route is called “Poloostrov mezi Lužnicí a Lužnicí.” It continues via Slapy and Dražičky to Příběnice. Its course differs from the yellow-marked trail from Tábor to Příběnice by running via Slapy and Dražičky.

Nature Between Gorge and Slope Forests

The “Údolí Lužnice a Vlásenického potoka” Natura 2000 site protects gorge and slope forests of the Tilio-Acerion alliance, chasmophytic vegetation of siliceous rocky slopes, and oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association. These technical terms describe different protected habitats: forests in gorges and on slopes, plants on siliceous rocky slopes, and oak-hornbeam forests.
