Historical Traces in Bezdědovice

Bezdědovice is particularly interesting if you would like to combine historical traces with a clearly described cycling route. In Bezdědovice, the Mohylník U bílých kamenů site is designated as an important archaeological locality. It is an early medieval burial ground with three burial mounds. Archaeological investigations of two burial mounds at the beginning of the 20th century revealed remains of cremation burials. The three burial mounds give the site a clear historical framework; the early medieval focus therefore predates the Baroque buildings in Paštiky. This gives the locality a tangible archaeological focus that goes beyond a mere place name.

Baroque Architecture and Historic Cultural Sites

Paštiky also broadens the cultural picture of this journey. The Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist there was built from 1747 to 1753 according to plans by Kilián Ignác Dienzenhofer. The cemetery chapel at the church in Paštiky was also built according to plans by Dientzenhofer and was converted into the Hildprandt family crypt in 1846. The church and cemetery chapel thus combine architectural history with later family use: the conversion into a family crypt dates to 1846 and adds another historical period to the chapel's construction date. Another historical detail is that the Chapel of St. Vojtěch was built in 1898.

The Rýžoviště zlata cultural site preserves an extensive field of gold-washing mounds, pits and channels on both banks of the Závišínský potok stream. For your travel planning, this creates a connection between architectural history, archaeology and traces of earlier gold mining, without combining the individual themes into a single attraction.

A Clearly Described Cycling Loop

Official Cycling Route No. 2 runs as the Blatná–Paštiky–Chobot–Myštice–Lom–Škvořetice–Buzice–Blatná loop through Paštiky. On the section from Blatná via Paštiky, the route initially follows Route 311, switches to Cycling Route 1062 shortly before Myštice and turns onto Route 31 at Lom. The changing route numbers divide the loop into clearly distinguishable sections and make it easier to mentally organize the route between the individual places. The sequence of places and route numbers gives you a concrete basis if you would like to make cycling the focus of your stay.
