Velečín brings together several discoveries within a compact thematic area: Cycling Route 2152 passes through the village and Ostrovec, the Velečínský rybník lies to the north, and protected cultural monuments in the village recall different historical periods. The Velečínský rybník has a water surface of approximately 5 hectares. It lies on the Podvinecký potok, which flows northwest of Velečín, about 1.5 km north of the village. Its approximate distance and location along the stream give the body of water a clear geographical context, while Cycling Route 2152 offers a second perspective on Velečín and Ostrovec. Historical traces in Velečín and Ostrovec

One of the notable monuments in Velečín is the Velečín reconciliation cross. It is a monolithic sandstone slab bearing a faintly visible relief of a crutch cross on both sides. As a protected immovable cultural monument, it represents not only a single historical detail but also the distinctive form of regional remembrance culture. Velečín is also home to a niche chapel, which is among the protected immovable cultural monuments.

A small brick-built niche chapel was erected next to the church in the 19th century. This dating supplements its status as a listed monument with a specific historical reference. For visitors who consider not only major sights but also smaller architectural traces when choosing their destination, this offers a particular appeal.

Ostrovec is home to the protected Church of St John the Baptist complex. It comprises the church, a mortuary, a gravestone and an enclosing wall. The church stands approximately in the middle of a gently sloping, circular village green; a low wall bounds the area of the former cemetery. There was already a parish and a church dedicated to St John in Ostrovec in the 14th century. In 1757, Count Czernin had the church remodelled from the Gothic to the Baroque style. Restoration of the protected church began in 2006.

More recent cultural history is also linked to a specific date: The “Věž” exhibition in Velečín was scheduled to open on 28 June 2025 with a guided tour of the church tower led by the author.

Past events under the name Hasičské závody took place in Velečín on 24 May 2014, 4 May 2013 and 22 May 2010. These dates are part of the documented history of the village and should be understood as past events.
