Archaeological heritage around St. Barbara

A particularly distinctive attraction is the archaeological area at St. Barbara Church. It includes a church, a mining complex and a mine. The church stands approximately 1 km west of Všekary. This specific location makes St. Barbara an independent destination within the history of the village, without reducing the archaeological elements to an ordinary church visit. Mining traces dating from the end of the 19th century are known in the area around the church and are associated with the Barbořin vrch mine. At the same time, it is possible that individual traces date from earlier periods. This chronological openness is precisely part of the character of the site: the mining history cannot be assigned exclusively to a single era. Traces of lead and zinc ore extraction have also been preserved in the forests around Všekary. Prehistory is also present. In Všekary and the surrounding area, burial mounds from the Middle and Late Bronze Age have been preserved, featuring the characteristic cremation burial rite. Those interested in the early history of burial practices will therefore find here a complement to the more recent evidence of mining.

Chapel, former school and historic art

The history of the village also includes the Late Baroque Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, which stands next to the former school in Všekary. It was built in the first half of the 18th century during the reign of Maria Theresa. The Chapel of Všekary formerly housed, among other things, a Gothic statue of the Madonna from the 15th century. The word “formerly” is important here: the statue belongs to the documented history of the chapel’s furnishings and should not be assumed to be a current part of the chapel. Hiking with clear route connections

For active days, the green-marked KČT hiking route is relevant. It leads to Všekary and connects to a blue-marked route leading to Hradišťany or Hradec u Stoda. This makes it possible to combine different hiking destinations without assuming a specific route length or walking time.
