Pasečnice – Pond, Forest and Historic Traces

Pasečnice combines a notably dispersed settlement structure with waterscapes, forest paths and tangible traces of regional history. This character is particularly evident at the 2.97-hectare pond in Nová Pasečnice. Its water supply can be traced precisely: a stream from the Ve skalách hill and water from a small pond in Stará Huť feed the body of water. Thus, in Pasečnice, natural features and local history come together within a closely connected thematic setting.

Pond, Trees and Watercourses

The landscape of Pasečnice does not consist of a single densely built-up village center. The settlement structure is highly dispersed; the buildings are surrounded by wild trees and accessible from many sides. In Stará Pasečnice stands the protected “u Maksů” lime tree, which is approximately 400 years old. The lime tree stands in Stará Pasečnice, while the pond is in Nová Pasečnice; the two are therefore located in different parts of the dispersed settlement structure.

The Studená Bystřice forms a large part of the western boundary of the cadastral area of Pasečnice. It joins a stream from Pasečnice to form the Zubřina. This connection is important for understanding the location: Pasečnice does not appear as an isolated point, but as a settlement area with streams, ponds and a distinctive western water boundary.

Salka and the History of Alum

A special historical connection leads to the extensive Salka mine. Alum shale was mined there, from which alum was produced in the 18th century. The Salka rock cave lies on the wooded slope of the Skalky hill. Its floor and the adjoining adits are filled with water. The wooded hillside, the flooded cave floor and the water-filled adits thereby connect the outdoor space with the underground. In winter, icicles may be visible in the front part of Salka above the small lake. This place thus combines geological form, mining history and a seasonally shaped appearance, without reducing the individual aspects to a mere list of attractions.

U Svarbů: Rural Architectural Heritage in Detail

The agricultural farmstead No. 38, “U Svarbů,” is designated as a cultural monument. On the left side of the farmyard stands a single-storey residential building constructed from round logs using a log-building technique. A boundary wall with a round-arched wicket gate and a gate adjoins this residential building. The wicket gate and the gate are therefore set into the wall that directly adjoins the residential building. Here, the designation cultural monument takes on a concrete character through specific architectural features: round logs, log construction, wall, wicket gate and gate form part of the traditional appearance, which differs from a general description of rural architecture.

A Forest Connection Through the Settlement Landscape

The forest route called Sedlácká is also important for spatial orientation. It connects Stará Pasečnice with Česká Kubice.
