Třemešné – Forest Landscape, Educational Trails and Historical Traces
Třemešné combines a wooded landscape with paths for hikers and cyclists, as well as clearly recognisable traces of its history. The village lies on the Domažlice–Tachov railway line and was once a Chod village laid out around an irregularly rectangular village green. For your travel planning, this creates an interesting mix of nature experiences, historical details and routes of varying lengths.
Landscape around Třemešné
A prominent landmark is Kamenný vrch. The 738-metre-high mountain lies 2 km southwest of Třemešné. Its summit is flat and covered with rocky cliffs, while the view is limited. Below the summit, approximately halfway up the slope, there are old charcoal-burning sites. These are prepared areas where charcoal was burned. Kamenný vrch therefore represents not only the wooded surroundings, but also makes a former use of the forest visible.
Historical Traces in the Village
A remarkable farmstead stands on the village green between the inn and the railway station. A gallery has been built above its entrance, giving the building an unusual detail. The history of the former Chapel of the Virgin Mary also remains present in Třemešné: Exposed foundation walls and an exposed floor commemorate the former building. The layout of the chapel has been marked out for tourists and casual visitors. Such individual stops make the village green and its surroundings a destination for anyone who wants to discover not only the landscape but also the region's architectural and local history during their stay.
Compare Hiking and Cycling by Route Length
The 21 km green-marked hiking route Třemešné–Přimda–Staré Sedliště leads through the forest between Třemešné and Přimda. For a shorter hike, the Vodnà mlýny educational trail is available; it is approximately 11.5 km long. As far as Svatá Apolena, it runs parallel to the blue-marked hiking route. There, it turns onto the road to Málkov and leads back to Třemešné along the Bezděkovský potok.
The approximately 15.5 km-long MilÃÅ™e educational trail connects to the blue-marked hiking trail, which takes it back to TÅ™emeÅ¡né. The two educational trails therefore differ not only in their approximate length but also in their route: Vodnà mlýny returns via Svatá Apolena, Málkov and the BezdÄ›kovský potok, while MilÃÅ™e connects to the blue-marked hiking trail. Cyclists can include the approximately 30.5 km TÅ™emeÅ¡né–Diana–TÅ™emeÅ¡né route in their plans. The different distances help you consider your preferred daily itinerary when choosing your accommodation.
