Spalene Porici – Castle, Trails and Regional Culture
Spálené Poříčí combines a distinctive castle history with routes through valleys, forests and rural landscapes. Here, you can combine culture directly with walks and excursions: the castle, the “Za mlynáři od Bradavy” nature trail and the historic “Cesta otevřená” route offer different focal points for planning your trip.
Castle, Museum and Freely Accessible Parks
Adam Vratislav of Mitrovice had Spálené Poříčí Castle built in 1617 on the site of a former Gothic fortress. At the castle, you can visit a concert hall with a preserved original Renaissance ceiling vault, as well as the ethnographic museum of the Spálenopoříčsko region. This gives you two different ways to explore the local history: the architecture preserves a specific structural detail, while the museum focuses on regional folklore.
For time spent outdoors, the areas immediately around the castle are also useful points of reference. The parks in front of and behind Spálené Poříčí Castle are freely accessible. This allows you to combine a visit to the castle with a walk through the park without leaving the town’s cultural focus.
Nature Trails for Different Types of Walks
The “Za mlynáři od Bradavy” nature trail runs through the Bradava Valley, passes by Hvížďalka Pond and extends to Hořehled. The route is 4.5 km long and has six stops. Its theme is the history of mills, hammer mills and traditional crafts. The nature trail begins at a mill in the immediate vicinity of the castle, allowing the history of the castle and the historical world of work to be combined in one excursion.
The “Perličky víly Terezky” walking route has a different focus. Because of its proximity to the town, level terrain, paved paths and relatively short distance, it is particularly suitable for families with children, seniors, schoolchildren and parents with strollers. If different walking needs matter within your group, this route offers a clearly described alternative to the themed nature trail.
Historic Route and Rural Landscape
The “Cesta otevřená” is a restored historic route between Spálené Poříčí and Blovice. It passes through a rural landscape with meadows, pastures and forests. Those who do not want to experience the route only on foot can extend it through the forest into a cycling route of approximately 20 km. The approximate length of the cycling route remains an important reference point when planning a longer active day.
Mountains and Further Cultural Destinations in the Region
Nad Moráskem and Radyně mountains are located in the vicinity of Spálené Poříčí. In the wider surrounding region, you can also find the Valdek Castle Ruins, the “Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral” church, the Church of Svatý Martin, Mount Praha and Mount Štěrbina. This allows you to combine a visit to the immediate area with a broader search for landscape and cultural destinations without conflating the different geographical settings of these places.
