Míšov – Brdy among ancient beeches and paths to Třemšín

Míšov combines the protected Brdy landscape with distinctive trees, historical traces and routes for active exploration. If you are considering accommodation in Míšov as a base, you can plan your stay around whether you want to combine nature, a longer hike, cycling or culture.

Landscape between the protected area and ancient trees

The settlement of Míšov lies in Zone IV of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Brdy). A special natural site is the Míšovské buky natural monument. It protects a remnant of a fir-beech forest in the Brdy; some of the ancient beeches standing there are up to 250 years old. This is not an ordinary network of paths: visitors' movement is currently not restricted, but because of the area's small size, its terrain, the lack of marked paths within the area and the lack of paved roads, recreational use is limited to less intensive walks.

The protected group of trees known as “Lípy v Míšově” also gives the place a distinctive feature. It consists of two memorial trees in Bělehrad, opposite the former inn No. 22. The two lime trees grow together through their branches and form a compact unit. Standing over twenty metres tall, they shape the landscape as a prominent landmark.

Hikes and cycling routes from Míšov

For a longer tour, you can start the hike to Třemšín in Míšov. The route passes the Nad Maráskem rocks; there are two variants, each approximately 20 km long. This distance makes the tour classifiable as a standalone day trip, without distinguishing the two variants more than the available information allows.

Another option is the “Za rozhledy na Jordán” excursion. It leads from Míšov along a cycle path to the Padrťské rybníky ponds. A cycling route also continues from Míšov to the Jordán impact area. Former military bunkers are located there, and the area offers a beautiful view of the landscape. From Míšov, there are therefore different types of excursions side by side: an approximately 20 km hike focused on nature and routes that explore the Brdy area by bicycle.

Culture and history on the southern edge of the Brdy

The ATOMMUZEUM is a cultural highlight. It is located on the southern edge of the Brdy between Borovno and Míšov. The ATOMMUZEUM Javor 51 can be reached from Míšov via a local road. This means that a stay in Míšov can be planned not only around forests and paths, but also around a museum visit.

Another historical trace can be found in the Huť district. Its name derives from a glassworks that operated there in the 17th and 18th centuries. Together with the protected lime trees, ancient beeches and former military bunkers, this creates a local landscape in which natural and cultural themes stand closely alongside one another, without becoming a single attraction.
