Discover Hradec U Stoda
Hradec U Stoda offers a cultural monument, archaeological traces and an unusual waterside destination. If you would like to combine different experiences during your stay, you will find both historical discoveries and a cycling route here, as well as an accessible walking route to the flooded quarry and destinations for horseback excursions. This makes the place a suitable starting point for a trip focused not just on a single landmark, but on several clearly distinct facets.
Church and historical traces in Hradec
The Church of St. George in Hradec is a cultural monument dating from the 14th century. The complex stands on a hill and includes a bell tower, a rectory and two farm buildings in addition to the church. Southwest of the Church of St. George, the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands at a crossroads. A three-arch stone railway viaduct spans the valley between Hradec and the Slavic castle.
A particular point of interest is the Slavic castle of Hradec. It is an important archaeological site and a two-part archaeological site covering approximately 6 hectares. The Slavic castle lies on a promontory between the Radbuza and the Touškovský stream. This historical setting is complemented by the Hradec burial ground, with approximately 40 to 50 burial mounds. Around 20 burial mounds are clearly visible in a spruce and pine forest.
The former quarry on the edge of the village
On the edge of Hradec lies a former quarry that now serves as a bathing spot. In summer, there is a kiosk selling refreshments. The flooded quarry is not accessible by car: from the village square, a path leads there on foot along the Touškovský stream. In addition, a route leads upstream from the crossroads in Hradec to the flooded quarry. These two details make access part of the experience without confusing the site with a destination that can be reached directly by car. At the flooded quarry, the rock is up to eight metres high.
Cycling and excursions in the surrounding area
The Radbuza cycling route passes through Hradec and complements the cultural and historical destinations by offering a way to include the village in a cycling tour. In the nearby area, in Lisov, Ranch Červený Mlýn offers individual riding training with Luděk Čiba. The ranch also has many destinations for horseback excursions. Anyone who would like to switch between culture, water, cycling and equestrian experiences during their stay will therefore find several different themes in and near Hradec.
