Drahkov between Fortress History and the Valley Landscape

Historical Traces Around the Fortress

A central historical reference point is the fortress of Drahkov. It was built at the end of the 14th or beginning of the 15th century in the part of the village known as Na mokřišti. The fortress of Drahkov is first documented in 1415; that year, Albert z Mokří took his name from it. In 1581, the fortress was repaired or completely rebuilt. Its history therefore encompasses several construction and documentary phases between the late 14th century and the extensive changes in 1581.

Podhrázský potok and Pozorka Pond

The landscape character of Drahkov is shaped by the valley of the Podhrázský potok. The stream flows through the municipality, and its valley forms a major landscape feature of the area. Several bodies of water lie in the broad valley floodplain. Pozorka Pond is the largest of these bodies of water and provides another clear point of reference in the valley landscape. The stream and the floodplain represent two distinct landscape features: the Podhrázský potok runs through the municipality, while Pozorka stands out as the largest body of water in the floodplain.

Chapel, Wooden Statue and the Venerated Stone

On the outskirts of Drahkov, on the road to Letiny, stands a Neoclassical chapel dedicated to Saint Adalbert. Inside is a folk-style wooden statue of Saint Adalbert that is almost life-sized. In front of the entrance, a venerated stone with an allegedly recognizable imprint of a shod foot still lies in the ground. The chapel thus brings together a Neoclassical building, an almost life-sized wooden figure, and a local tradition in one place.

Cycle Paths with Different Route Characteristics

The cycle paths follow routes with different characteristics. Cycle path 2145 leads from Drahkov toward Výsovák Pond near Chocenice. The route initially follows paved roads and then continues along surfaced farm tracks. This change in surface is a specific characteristic of the connection. Cycle path 2143, on the other hand, leads via Únětice and Chocenický Újezd to Drahkov. In Drahkov, cycle path 2143 connects with cycle path 2145.

Sports and Local Life

Drahkov has a multi-purpose sports field that can be used for various sports. The sports field thus complements the historical, landscape, and local points of interest with a place for different sporting activities. The Municipality of Drahkov and SDH Drahkov also organize a traditional New Year's reception and fireworks display.
