Chrastavec between Valley and Forest

Chrastavec lies in a deeply cut, picturesque and touristically interesting valley between two hills. Rohles Forest connects the two parts of the village. The Chrastavský stream runs along the road between Půlpecen and Chrastavec. The valley, forest and stream are therefore closely connected to the landscape. For a trip with different interests, these natural and cultural aspects can be planned well alongside one another.

Cultural History in the Villagescape

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity was built in 1864 and is a defining landmark of Chrastavec. It was completely renovated at the municipality’s expense and with the active support of parish community members. Next to the church is a commemorative plaque made in 2008 for Professor MUDr. Josef Janků, who came from Chrastavec and was head of the eye clinic at the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. The historic site thus combines architectural history, community involvement and a personal remembrance.

Villas in Chrastavec and Půlpecen

The Löw-Beer Villa in Chrastavec is also part of the area’s cultural history and is designated as a cultural monument. The Löw-Beer Villa in Půlpecen was built between 1911 and 1913. The two villas therefore represent different locations and clearly distinguishable construction periods.

Fortification and Information Board

The fortification history includes the stronghold of Oldřich Chrastavský. It was part of the defence of the Bohemian lands against enemy incursions. An information board in Chrastavec marks the approximate location of the former stronghold. In this way, the historic fortification is connected with a specific point in the present-day village. The approximate marking preserves the uncertainty surrounding the former location.

Clearly Distinguish the Cycle Path and Bridleway

A cycle path runs through the whole of Chrastavec. In the vicinity of Chrastavec, about 3 km away, there is also a red bridleway running from Vítějeves via Svojanov Castle towards Polička. The two paths therefore differ in route and use: one runs through Chrastavec, while the other is in the surrounding area and is designated as a bridleway. When planning, it is therefore important whether cycling in the village or the bridleway, with its approximate distance, is the focus.

Hudálna can be rented for weddings; it includes a covered outdoor dance floor. This adds a specific event venue to the landscape, cultural history and paths.
