Linhartice between nature and living tradition

Linhartice lies in the valley of the Třebůvka River and combines several different aspects of a place: environmental education, living traditions, cultural events and distinctive traces of rural history. A particular focus is the Stolístek Eco-Centre. The eco-centre’s nature garden received certification as a “Model Nature Garden” in 2021. Its characteristic areas include a large pond for invertebrates and amphibians, a dry-stone wall for lizards and a butterfly bed. These different elements demonstrate the variety of ways in which environmental education can be approached in one place.

The Stolístek Eco-Centre uses the renovated rooms of the former primary school in Linhartice and the adjacent nature garden for its environmental education activities. It offers the public lectures, workshops and guided walks led by experts. If you are travelling with children, depending on your interests you can choose between educational information, a workshop and a guided walk, without limiting your visit to just one form of experiencing nature.

Masopust and the Cultural Centre

The Masopust festival is a particularly vibrant tradition. In Linhartice, a procession has taken place every year as part of this festival for more than 20 years. It includes the symbolic burial of the double bass and a masked procession. This gives the place a specific cultural point of reference that extends beyond individual historic buildings.

The Linhartice Cultural Centre is located in the centre of the village next to the football pitch and is the hub of cultural life in the municipality. It is used for social events, carnival celebrations, exhibitions and other cultural events.

Rural History and Distinctive Local Details

The former hereditary reeve’s residence No. 60 is part of Linhartice’s cultural and historical heritage. It is a state-protected monument, originally formed part of a farm complex and was associated with the operation of an inn. The former rural hereditary reeve’s residence is unusually well preserved and is allegedly thought to date from the late 16th century. Its former function, surviving structure and cautious dating give this building a particular historical depth, without equating its past with its present-day use.

Another piece of local history concerns the stork’s nest: in 1987, it was moved onto a concrete pole. This specific reference to a year also adds a small but memorable detail of the local surroundings to the picture of Linhartice.
