Discover Budislav: Nature Trail, Cultural Monument and Viewpoint
Budislav is a place for days when traces of history, marked trails, water and cultural monuments come together. The historic “Po stopách Yttiho” nature trail leads through Budislav and its surroundings. There is also Širůček Pond, which is used for swimming, the Dům bratří Čapků cultural monument and the Toulovcova Lookout Tower between Jarošov and Budislav. Those who want to combine different experiences during a stay in the Czech Republic will find several clearly distinct points of interest here.
Trails through Budislav and its surroundings
The “Po stopách Yttiho” nature trail focuses on the historical side of the town and leads through Budislav and the nearby surroundings. Another route is the Budislav–Městské maštale circular tour. It starts in Budislav on red cycle route No. 4, then continues along white cycle route No. 3 and a yellow hiking trail marking.
For a quieter alternative, Širůček Pond is located in Budislav. It is used for swimming, adding a stay by the water to the trails and historical destinations. This allows you to choose between a marked tour, historical impressions and a swimming pond when planning your activities, without mixing up the individual offerings.
Cultural monuments and places of remembrance
Dům bratří Čapků holds a special cultural position in Budislav. The building was completed in 1941 and has been a cultural monument since 2000. The house’s ecological education centre contains an exhibition about the history and restoration of this cultural monument.
Another place of remembrance lies in a forest near Budislav. At the Na Borku forestry lodge, a commemorative plaque recalls the writer Teréza Nováková’s stay in Budislav. This site adds a literary trace to the cultural history of the Dům bratří Čapků and broadens the perspective beyond the town centre.
Sandstone and views from Jarošovský kopec
A distinctive feature of the townscape is the pair of large sandstone blocks opposite the school: Velké Hradisko and Malé Hradisko. They are among the specific landscape features that make an impression when exploring Budislav.
The Toulovcova Lookout Tower stands on Jarošovský kopec between Jarošov and Budislav in the Svitavy District, at an elevation of 539 m above sea level. The lookout tower is 15 metres high, has two viewing platforms and can be reached via more than 60 steps.
Getting oriented locally
The small Budislav information centre is located in a booth in the car park by the municipal office. Tourist maps and postcards are sold there. During the summer holidays, the information centre also organises guided tours of the Boží Lásky Church. These services provide you with a local contact point for maps and a guided tour.
More places to consider for your trip
If you would like to compare other destinations in addition to Budislav, you can also include Březová Nad Svitavou, Radiměř, Sádek, Benátky, Svojanov, Linhartice, Mikuleč and Trpín in your further search.
