Sádek Between Protected Landscapes and Village History

Sádek combines a hilly landscape with notable traces of regional history. The village is located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and features several longer valleys through which small streams flow. Cycling Route 4022 also passes through Sádek. Here, nature experiences, cycling and cultural and historical discoveries come together in a compact thematic area – an interesting combination for anyone who does not want to plan their stay around just one attraction.

Landscape and Cycling

The terrain shapes the character of Sádek more strongly than a flat village setting: hills and longer stream valleys give the surroundings different perspectives. Anyone wishing to combine a cycling tour with impressions of the landscape can include Cycling Route 4022, which runs through the village, in their plans. When choosing accommodation, it is particularly worth considering whether you want to focus your stay on the landscape and cycling route or on the historical monuments in the village.

A Former Rychtář Farmstead as a Special Historical Testimony

One of the most distinctive historical buildings is the former Rychtář farmstead No. 33. It has an enclosed square courtyard, a timber-framed upper floor and a detached masonry barn. Around the middle of the 16th century, the farmstead served as the seat of the Rychtář. At the same time, it is considered the oldest masonry folk building in the Poličsko region. It is precisely the combination of its preserved architectural structure and former function that makes the farmstead an illustrative gateway to the village’s history: it represents not only a single building but also points to the historical importance of the estate.

Church and Evangelical Cemetery

Another important monument is the Church of the Most Holy Trinity. The enclosed early Baroque rural church complex was built between 1710 and 1713. It is considered an important monument in the Poličsko region and a landmark of the municipality. For orientation regarding times on site, the service times at the parish Church of the Most Holy Trinity are also relevant: services are held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:00 p.m., on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. and on Sundays at 8:30 a.m.

Another historical layer is represented by the original Evangelical cemetery of Sádek. It was established in 1783 following the issuance of the Toleration Patent of 1781. The cemetery is under the protection of the heritage preservation authority; only the stone perimeter wall has survived. This clear distinction between the original cemetery and the surviving structural element is essential for understanding the site.

Roads in Class II and Class III run through Sádek. The Class II road is served by bus routes and has three stops. The historical destinations and the landscape stand side by side on an equal footing: Sádek is suitable as the focus of a stay in which you do not have to view local history and nature separately.
