Discover Krasíkov

Krasíkov combines remarkable sacred buildings, traces of an Augustinian monastery and a varied river landscape. If you would like to combine culture and outdoor activity during your stay, you will find specific destinations here: from the Baroque Chapel of the Guardian Angels, along the Moravská Sázava, to an 8.9 km hiking route with footbridges, the area above the Krasíkovský tunel and the railway station as its starting and finishing point.

Chapels, Sandstone and Monastery History

Only parts of the surrounding walls of the church building that rise above ground level have survived from the Augustinian monastery. The presbytery, cloister and other buildings of the monastery complex probably survive as archaeological remains. The site therefore preserves not only visible walls, but also evidence of a largely vanished monastery complex.

In the centre of the village stands the Chapel of the Guardian Angels on road II/368, which leads from Štíty to Moravská Třebová. Built in 1725, the chapel is a Baroque landmark in the village. In front of it stands a statue of Saint Florian made from Maletín sandstone. Its pedestal records that it was commissioned in 1828 by Johann Habiger from house number 57.

Another prominent ensemble dedicated to the Holy Trinity stands on the Sázava between a concrete bridge and a power station near house number 75. Its sandstone pedestal bears the year 1803. At house number 122 there is also a deconsecrated Neoclassical chapel; the sandstone lintel above its door bears the year 1814. As you walk through Krasíkov, you therefore encounter several differently characterised architectural and commemorative sites that come together to form a concentrated exploration of the area's cultural history.

River Landscape and Hiking Route

The bed of the Moravská Sázava forms a large S in Krasíkov and gives the landscape a clear spatial structure. When water levels are suitable, the river is frequently used by canoeists. This possibility is explicitly dependent on the water level and therefore complements, rather than replaces, exploring on foot.

An 8.9 km hiking route begins and ends at Krasíkov railway station. It leads to Koruna Panny Marie, across footbridges over the Moravská Sázava, into the area above the Krasíkovský tunel and to the village chapel. Another section follows the former railway corridor towards the old Tatenický Tunnel. The route thus combines river crossings, traces of historical transport routes and several specific destinations in and above Krasíkov, without having its start and end in different places.

The Railway Station and Tunnel as Part of the Village Landscape

Krasíkov has the last railway station and tunnel on the Czech section of the most important railway line. Near Krasíkov, trains travelling towards Olomouc enter a 1,098-metre-long railway tunnel. This is a distinctive part of the local setting when choosing where to stay: the railway station is not only part of the hiking route, but also belongs to the area's unique railway history.
