Discover Damníkov

Damníkov combines a distinctive landscape setting with remarkable evidence of its history. The town lies at the foot of the wooded Hřebečovský Ridge in the Třebovský mezihoří, below the Třebovský Pass. The Lukovský Stream flows through Damníkov and joins the Moravská Sázava.

The forests surrounding Damníkov provide recreation for locals and visitors. They are also suitable for picking mushrooms and bilberries. Road 43 is important for orientation in the wider area. It runs through Damníkov to Lanškroun, which is 6 km away, and continues to the recreational areas of the Orlické Mountains and the Polish Kłodzko Region. Church and Historical Details

A particularly multifaceted site is the Church of Saint John the Baptist. The present building was constructed in 1898 in the Neo-Gothic style. At the same time, the church preserves a late Gothic portal dating from around 1500, as well as ornamented tombstones from the 16th century.

Next to the church stands a Baroque rectory dating from 1754. The town also contains a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1713. Another Baroque statue, that of Saint Procopius from 1710, commemorates the former church. A tour of Damníkov therefore offers several small historical points of interest relating to the town’s religious and architectural past.

Traces of the Former Mill

The abandoned Rychtářský mlýn mill is located near the church. Only the massive dam of a reservoir remains. The mill originally belonged to the estate of the hereditary reeve; until the 20th century, it was owned by the Zorn family, who usually leased it out. The historical information is thus explicitly connected with its former use: today, the focus is not on mill operations but on the surviving structural trace and its place in the history of the town.
