Tisová – Chapel, Ponds and Local History

For families who want to combine nature and local history, Tisová offers several clearly distinct points of interest. The character of the village is shaped not only by individual sights: waterways, ponds, religious monuments and traces of its farming past are equally part of its history.

Ponds and Waterways around Tisová

There are three ponds directly in Tisová. The largest of them is Bačův rybník. This name also refers to a former manorial pond in Tisová, which is now called Bačův rybník. Those who pay particular attention to the landscape and character of the village during their stay will find a tangible starting point here for experiencing the water-shaped elements of the area.

The streams also give Tisová its own geographical structure. The Sloupnický potok flows through Tisová, and the Labuťka flows into it. In addition, the Labíčko stream flows into the Labuťka in Tisová.

Chapel, Church and Monuments

A particularly distinctive site of cultural history is the Chapel of Saint Adalbert. It dates from 1775 and is considered a cultural monument of Tisová. A stone crucifix stands amid greenery in front of the chapel. At this site, you can therefore encounter both historic religious architecture and a simple religious symbol in a green setting.

Tisová is also home to a branch church dedicated to Saint Adalbert, bishop and martyr. The village’s memorial culture includes a memorial to the victims of the First and Second World Wars. Another memorial stone commemorates the writer Tobiáš Eliáš Tisovský, who was born in Tisová. It was unveiled by ECCE Tisová. A visit with different age groups can therefore encompass several themes: religious history, remembrance of the victims of the First and Second World Wars, and the memory of a personality connected with the village.

The cultural monuments of Tisová also include the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Koutech. It broadens the view beyond the chapel and memorial stones to include another religious monument of the village.

Traces of the Farming Past

Historic Tisová is reflected in more than just its monuments. Agricultural estates with square layouts, typical of large farmsteads, have been preserved in the village only in part. This very limitation is important for the village’s history: it points to a traditional building form that no longer survives in its entirety today. When exploring the village, you can therefore take note of both preserved individual monuments and fragmentarily preserved structures from its former agricultural life.

Community Life and Local Traditions

The TJ Sokol Tisová association is involved in sport, tourism, and educational and informative activities. Thus, alongside the visible monuments, community activities are also part of the documented profile of the village. For the chronological context of local events, it is recorded that a Christmas market organized by the Tisová primary and kindergarten school was announced for December 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the main hall of the municipal building in Tisová. Singing around the Christmas tree was then supposed to take place there. This date is in the past and is therefore not a current event announcement.
