Včelákov – History, Landscape and Distinctive Local Features

Včelákov combines landscape protection, local history and specific paths and places of interest. Part of the area lies within the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. At the same time, you will encounter a late Neoclassical church, preserved original log-house architecture and the unusual Žumpa shaft. After 1928, its wall decoration was created by the local priest Jan Kohel. The Boží hrob is also notable: it is unveiled to the faithful at Easter. The construction period, wall decoration and Easter connection offer different ways of approaching the church’s history.

Outside the church, the Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk, socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého, provides another historical accent; it dates from 1740. The statue therefore belongs to a considerably earlier era than the late Neoclassical church; Baroque and late Neoclassical design meet in the townscape. In addition, original log-house architecture has been preserved in Včelákov. The log houses complement the sacred monuments with a rural architectural form.

Educational Trail and Sports Complex

The “Stopy ležácké tragédie” educational trail points to the nearby burned-down settlement of Ležáky. The Sušidla sports complex has three courts and a football pitch. A day can thus be focused on culture, the cycling route or sports.
