Třibřichy between the Fortress, Pond and Local History

Třibřichy combines bodies of water with a multifaceted local history. Markovský Pond lies on the southern side of the village and is used for fishing. At the same time, Třibřichy stretches along the Bylanka stream. The Markovský Stream flows out of Markovský Pond. This brings together a pond, a stream and an outflowing watercourse with historical evidence from different periods.

Waterside Landscape on the Southern Edge of the Village

Its use as a fishing pond adds a specific activity to the landscape character. The Bylanka stream defines the course of the village, while the Markovský Stream carries the outflow from the pond. In this way, different bodies of water each have their own relationship to Třibřichy: the pond lies on the southern edge of the village, the stream runs along the village, and the stream carries water onward from the pond.

Fortress and Traces of Prehistoric Settlement

The Třibřichy Fortress is one of the village’s prominent historical sites. After 1715, it served as the seat of the estate administration. Its history therefore points to the period when the administration of the estate was based there.

Finds from the Urnfield period and the Silesian culture reach back even further. They provide evidence of prehistoric settlement in Třibřichy and its surroundings. The history of the village therefore began long before the time of the fortress: the prehistoric settlement traces were followed by the fortress as a later testimony to the local and administrative history.

The chronological sequence of the evidence extends from prehistoric settlement through the fortress as an administrative seat after 1715 to the chapel, whose age is estimated at around 300 years. Třibřichy thus brings together archaeological, manorial and religious local history in different historical layers.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk

Another historical destination is the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. It stands on the cadastral boundary between Dřenice and Třibřichy. Its age is estimated at around 300 years. Its location between Dřenice and Třibřichy is therefore part of its classification, while its exact age is expressly only an estimate. The location on the cadastral boundary and the approximate dating give the chapel its own place within the local tradition, alongside the fortress and the prehistoric finds.

Fishing and Events by the Water

Markovský Pond is used for fishing. The start of this year’s fishing season was planned there for 2026. In addition, the “Markovický háček” children’s fishing competition was planned for 2026. It was due to take place on Saturday, April 25, at Markovice Pond.

For travelers with children, the competition on April 25 is therefore of particular interest. Those wishing to focus their stay more on the water itself will find Markovský Pond to be both a landscape feature and a body of water with a designated use. Třibřichy thus combines nature and history.
