Jenišovice U Chrudimi

Jenišovice U Chrudimi connects the Church of the Holy Trinity in the village centre with the Novohradka River and Cycle Route 4194. The Novohradka River is also known as the Olšinka and flows through Jenišovice. The Church of the Holy Trinity stands on a small rise above the road.

The Church of the Holy Trinity as the focal point

The Church of the Holy Trinity defines the centre of Jenišovice and is included in the state list of cultural monuments. It is a single-nave early Gothic church with a recessed polygonal chancel and a prismatic tower on the façade. Its origins date to around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. A single-nave building has one nave; a polygonal chancel consists of several straight sides. Its position above the road on the small rise makes the church a clear landmark in the village.

The historic surroundings include several stone monuments. A protected crucifix stands in front of the church. There is also an Empire-style stone cross in front of the entrance to the cemetery at the Church of the Holy Trinity. It was erected in 1808 at the expense of Jakub Dostál. The crucifix stands in front of the church building, while the cross is at the cemetery entrance. Both monuments are therefore located in the immediate vicinity of the church.

Musical instruments were once made and repaired in Jenišovice. The Jenišovice fire brigade actively takes part in various fire brigade anniversary celebrations. On these occasions, it is represented by an old Škoda 125, regarded as the only vehicle of its kind in Bohemia.

River, cycle route and nearby destinations

The Novohradka flows through Jenišovice, where the Řepnický potok stream joins it. Cycle Route 4194 runs via Martinice, Jenišovice and Štěnec from Slatiňany to Řepníky. In Jenišovice, a river flowing through the village and a regional cycle connection therefore meet. Along the route are Jenišovice, Martinice and Štěnec between Slatiňany and Řepníky.

In the municipality of Štěnec, 2 km from Jenišovice, the cadastral area contains the Kusá hora natural monument and Štěnecký rybník pond. Kusá hora represents a natural monument, while Štěnecký rybník represents a body of water. Both destinations complement the cultural-historical and cycling-related aspects of Jenišovice with links to the landscape. The pond provides a water area alongside the natural environment of Kusá hora.

Jedlá zahrada and practical information

The children’s playground in the Jedlá zahrada serves as a place to rest in Jenišovice. Jedlá zahrada is designed as a small botanical orchard; once completed, it is intended to include more than 35 unusual fruit tree species with numerous varieties. The children’s playground already serves as a place to rest, while the orchard will reach its planned scope only after completion.
