Oldřichov between the Village Square, Bečva and Libuška

Oldřichov can be discovered through three clearly recognizable aspects: the memorial sites on the village square, the Libuška wetland behind the village, and the cycle paths through Oldřichov and along the Bečva. This creates different travel-planning options focused on history, nature and activity.

Chapel and memorial sites in the town centre

The Chapel of the Apostles Philip and James stands on the village square. It was built in 1899–1900 to commemorate the great fire of 1874, which destroyed most of the houses in Oldřichov. As the Chapel of Saint Philip and James, it was consecrated in 1902. The building therefore connects a specific event in the village’s history with a centre that remains visible to this day.

Several other memorials stand in front of the chapel. The cross dates from 1901 and was donated to the municipality by Anna Pumprlová. The war memorial lists three citizens killed in the First World War and three in the Second World War. Two commemorative lime trees stand beside the chapel cross and the memorial; one was planted in 1938 and the other in 1948. On the road towards Osek there is also a statue of Panna Maria Svatohostýnská from 1935.

Libuška: Wetland and bird biocentre

The Libuška wetland lies behind Oldřichov. It is the longest oxbow lake of the Bečva in the Moravian Gate and includes floodplain forests and pools. Near Libuška there is a nesting site for around fifty sand martins and a kingfisher. In the immediate vicinity there is also a flooded sand pit with stands of reeds, rushes and sedges, which is suitable for waterfowl.

Another distinctive feature is an ornithologically interesting bird island in the middle of a 200 m-wide pool of an oxbow lake. The described Libuška site is an important bird biocentre. Those interested in bodies of water, floodplain forests and birdwatching will find a distinctly different experience here from the historic village square.

Cycle paths through Oldřichov and along the Bečva

Cycle Route No. 6240, the Jantarová stezka, runs through Oldřichov. A rest area for cyclists has been established opposite the municipal office. Behind Oldřichov, Cycle Route No. 6239 also runs along the Bečva, connecting Přerov and Lipník nad Bečvou.

The Bečva cycle route is also relevant for further orientation: it is 65 km long and runs mostly along a cycle path closed to motor traffic. The 26 km section between Přerov and Hranice is almost entirely suitable for inline skating. The different lengths and routes make it easier to choose between a shorter connection and a longer route along the Bečva.

Local events and further local history

The local events calendar includes the second edition of the Oldřichovský slivkošt and the pork feast, which were scheduled to take place in Oldřichov on 14 March 2026. A nohejbal tournament for the mayor’s challenge cup was scheduled to take place in Oldřichov on 4 July 2026. The village’s appearance is further complemented by the statue of Saint Joseph, the foster father, which was brought to the municipality from Osek around 1960.
