Malhotice is a destination for travelers who do not want to see history merely as a backdrop. The Malhotice Fortress is classified as UAN I and designated as an important archaeological site. Its history extends from the first mention in 1391 to the last mention in 1492. It probably preceded the nearby castle, which was created through its conversion. In Malhotice, you will therefore encounter historical traces whose chronological context can be traced back to the Middle Ages.

Historic Buildings and Notable Details

Baron Vilém Bojakovský had Malhotice Castle remodeled in the Empire style at the beginning of the 19th century. The former castle was extensively reconstructed in 2008; the façade, windows and interiors were renovated as part of the work. A cultural walk should also include the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. It is a Baroque work dating from 1816.

Another distinctive building is the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in Malhotice. It is listed as an Art Nouveau building from the beginning of the 20th century under registration number ÚSKP 50629/9-67. Its distinctive architectural style adds a more recent architectural layer to the older history of the fortress and castle.

Parrots at Arasféra

Arasféra brings a completely different accent to your stay. Various parrot species from many countries are displayed there. During a guided tour, you can feed tame birds under the supervision of a breeder or enter the aviary itself. You should register for a visit to Arasféra in advance by telephone or email. Plan Arasféra as a pre-booked visit with a guided tour and supervised contact with the animals, not as a spontaneous walk-through. Registration gives the visit a fixed structure; the breeder supervises direct contact with the birds.

Cycle Route 5252 and the Chapel

Malhotice also offers a specific point of orientation for exploring by bicycle: Cycle Route 5252 runs through the avenue by the Panny Marie před Malhoticemi Chapel. In front of the chapel there is an old memorial stone set into the ground. Behind the chapel, there is a covered tourist rest area beside the road. Through the grille at the chapel entrance, you can easily look inside.
