Bezuchov – Village Square, Nature and Cycling Routes

Bezuchov combines local history, protected landscape and trails to create a versatile destination. At its centre is the round village square with the Chapel of Saint Florian, while the Lesy u Bezuchova protected area and the Dřevohostickým lesem educational trail offer nature experiences and orientation for active days. Cyclists also have a direct connection to the village: the Bystřice pod Hostýnem–Helfštýn cycle route passes through Bezuchov.

Village Square and Traces of Local History

The Chapel of Saint Florian dates from 1895, stands on Bezuchov village square and has been completely restored. This village setting is complemented by a restored granite cross and two reconstructed sandstone crosses. The different materials also draw attention to the individual crosses, while the chapel’s construction year provides a fixed historical reference point for the village square.

The round village square formerly had three gates: Stará brána, Nová brána and Zábraní. The local Brethren community is also part of the village’s history. It was based in the Brethren House No. 1 by the Old Gate.

Protected Forests and an Educational Trail

The Lesy u Bezuchova protected area also extends across the cadastral area of Bezuchov. It protects oak-hornbeam forests, creating a clear focus on the landscape. The Dřevohostickým lesem educational trail is laid out as a 6 km circular route and has 12 stations with information panels. The six kilometres give the circular route a clearly defined length, while the twelve information panels complement it with fixed stations. This means that both the length of the route and its stations are clearly described. Cycling Routes and a Seasonal Tradition

Bezuchov is considered a hub for the cycling routes that run through the Záhoří region. In addition, the Bystřice pod Hostýnem–Helfštýn cycle route passes through the village. Another distinctive feature is Palm Sunday before Easter: on that day, Bezuchov hosts a festive girls’ procession known as “Májkování”.
