Discover Hrochov
Accommodation in Hrochov
Hrochov reveals its character through the interplay of upland, wide views, local history and a religiously shaped path. The village lies on an upland north of Lipová, towards Konice. From the meadows above Hrochov, views open across the Morava floodplain and towards the Nízký Jeseník and the Moravian Gate. The upland and the meadows above the village form the landscape setting for these wide views. The view therefore extends beyond the immediate village. When you choose accommodation in Hrochov, you are choosing a destination whose defining impressions are closely connected with the landscape and its evolving local history.
Wide landscapes and clear local connections
Many protected plants bloom there in the spring months. The view extends across the Morava floodplain, meaning the lowland area along the river, and onwards towards the Nízký Jeseník and the Moravian Gate. In this way, a specific natural feature combines with a wide-open view, without reducing Hrochov to a single landscape motif. The protected plants add a seasonal accent to the wide views in spring.
Hrochov lies on the road from Horní Štěpánov to Ptení. Cycle route 5039 also passes through Hrochov.
The Hrochov Church Path to Jednov
A particularly vivid experience is the “Hrochovská kostelní cesta”. The path leads to the pilgrimage Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Jednov and is lined with images of saints. The pilgrimage church is the destination, while the images of saints accompany the route between Hrochov and Jednov.
Local history from the 17th century to the chapel
Hrochov was founded in the second half of the 17th century. The first buildings were an inn, a barn and a hut or shepherd’s hut. Later, thirteen settlers settled in Hrochov, cleared the surrounding forests and built additional houses.
Another visible historical landmark is the listed Chapel of Saint Lawrence. It was built around 1843. The construction of the chapel therefore took place considerably later than the founding of Hrochov in the 17th century. Together with the village’s founding and its early buildings, it provides a second way of understanding Hrochov: in addition to its landscapes and paths, the village’s historical development over time can also be traced here.
Local tradition
A more recent, community-oriented side of Hrochov is represented by the SDH Hrochov volunteer fire brigade. Since 2010, it has organised the district competition “Hrochovská stodňa” for youth teams. This competition complements the historical and landscape themes with a local event tradition.
Depending on whether you want to focus on the landscape, cultural history or a specific path, the village offers different points of connection.
