Komárov: Views, Children's Trail and Village History

Komárov can be explored through Komárovský kopec, an easy children's trail, historic village landmarks, local traditions and a 30 km cycling route. This allows you to combine nature, activity and history in a variety of travel plans.

Views and a Trail for Children

From Komárovský kopec, the cross from 1833 offers views of Haná, Nízký Jeseník and the Zábřežská vrchovina. For walks and excursions, there is a covered gazebo with benches and a table. An information board and a summit logbook stand nearby.

The Komárovská stezka pro děti is an easy trail aimed primarily at families with children. Its theme changes throughout the year according to the seasons. The route leads from the senior home through a new cherry avenue to a fire pit with seating beneath a small wooded area, continues along a biocorridor and ends at the chapel. Five stations with interchangeable panels encourage children to learn about nature, reflect and engage in light physical activity. A children's playground is also publicly accessible on the grounds of Domov seniorů Komárov.

Chapel, Village Square and History

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary was built at the end of the 19th century along the route used by the residents of Komárov to reach the church in Mladějovice. After a long period of disuse, it was reconsecrated in 2005. On the village square, the chapel, a linden tree and the historic stone cross from 1823 form the historic centre. The first explicit written mention of Komárov dates from 1412/1413. The settlement arose during one of the final phases of settlement in the Šternberk region at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries.

Local Festivals and Hiking Tradition

Komárovské hody is a traditional local festival; the 2025 edition was the 20th. Komárovský výšlap is a recurring spring hiking event: the second edition took place in 2025 and the third in 2026. At Komárovský výšlap 2026, there was a shorter group walk through the surrounding area.

Cycling Route with a Changing Profile

The Do hlubin věků cycling route leads from Mladějovice through Komárov to Řídeč and is 30 km long. It initially combines a flat section with a steep ascent and a long, steep descent. The route is intended for experienced cyclists and runs on both paved roads and unpaved forest tracks. Its profile therefore includes both changes between flat and steep sections and differing surfaces, from asphalt to forest tracks.

Orientation for Planning Your Trip

A railway station on the line to Šumperk and Olomouc lies approximately 500 metres between Komárov and Mladějovice. From Mladějovice railway station, yellow- and blue-marked hiking trails run together towards Komárov and Řídeč.
