Skřipov – Nature, Cycling Routes and Culture

Skřipov is interesting for travellers who want to combine culture, landscapes and cycling. The village is located in a predominantly agricultural landscape surrounded by mixed forests. Several ponds, along with two waterways flowing through Skřipov—the Bílovka and the Skřipovský potok—provide further specific destinations for walks and nature experiences.

Church and Local History

A prominent cultural landmark is the new church in Skřipov. It was completed in 1844 after three years of construction and solemnly consecrated on 1 September 1844. These two dates make the church a tangible part of the local history: the construction dates from the mid-19th century, while the exact consecration date provides a more precise historical context. Anyone who wants to get to know not only the landscape but also the character of the village during their stay will find a clear cultural point of reference here.

U Leskoveckého chodníka Nature Reserve

The U Leskoveckého chodníka Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Skřipov. It covers 31.8826 ha and protects natural autochthonous stands of spruce, larch and fir. It also contains near-natural stands of acidophilous, or acid-loving, beech. Partially preserved ash-alder communities can be found in narrow stream valleys. The reserve therefore presents several different forest formations within a limited area, from conifer stands to woodland along the stream valleys.

The landscape around Skřipov is suitable for walks and recreation. It is also possible to collect mushrooms and other wild forest produce in the surrounding area. Together with the ponds, mixed forests and two streams, this creates a natural profile extending from the open, agriculturally shaped landscape to narrow valleys accompanied by waterways.

Cycling Routes with Different Characteristics

Skřipov is also a reference point for two interconnected cycling routes. In Skřipov, cycling route 6078 connects to cycling route 6190. Route 6190 runs via Slatina and Vyškovice to Skřipov, creating a connection that places the village within a broader cycling network. Those who choose route 6078 ride on an asphalt surface; it is suitable for all types of bicycles. Cycling route 6190, by contrast, runs on surfaced paths and includes an uphill section in the direction of Stará Ves–Výškovice. These differences are more useful when choosing a cycling trip than a general description: one route is characterised by its surface and suitability, while the other is additionally defined by the ascent on a specific section.

When choosing accommodation in Skřipov, it can therefore be decisive whether you primarily want to focus on local history, the nature reserve, walks or cycling connections.
