Nové Sedlice: Landscape, Trails and Local History

Nové Sedlice combines distinctive landscape features with trails, cycling routes and small cultural and historical discoveries. This makes the town suitable for travellers who do not want to plan their stay around just one destination, but instead want to choose between nature, activity and local history. The location between the Polomská vrchovina and the Poopava Lowland is particularly interesting.

Landscape between the Upland and the Lowland

The southern part of Nové Sedlice lies at the foot of the Polomská vrchovina. To the northwest, the town borders the Poopava Lowland. The upland lies to the south and the lowland landscape to the northwest of the town.

Hiking and cycling in several directions

A marked hiking trail leads through Nové Sedlice towards the Přerovec reservoir. In addition, a red-marked and a blue-marked hiking route run along Hlavní Street. The pavements there are also used by visitors. This means that the town has both a specific destination by the water and marked trails in its immediate area.

There are also several designated routes for exploring the area by bicycle. The regional Opava–Radegast beer cycling route runs through the cadastral area of Nové Sedlice. Local cycling route 6199 runs through the cadastral area in a north–south direction, towards Přerovec and Hrabyně. From Nové Sedlice, it also continues to Štítina. Another option is cycling route 6055: it reaches Nové Sedlice from Raduň after a 4-kilometre section across meadows and between small woodland areas.

These routes differ in their orientation and in the landscapes through which they lead. For a stay with changing daily plans, you can therefore choose between a route towards the reservoir, connections to the north and south, and a 4-kilometre section through meadows and small woodland areas.

Local History and Everyday Recreation

One of the notable places in the town is the former school building. It was built in 1924 and is a beautifully restored Art Nouveau building. Today, it houses the kindergarten, the municipal cultural centre and the library. Its former educational function is therefore part of its history, while the building now accommodates several municipal uses.

At the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, a cross dating from 1915 commemorates František Tížek, who fell in the First World War. This memorial site adds a personal reminder to the local history. For a walk with cultural interest, Nové Sedlice therefore offers specific historical points of connection alongside its landscape and trails.

The Areál Soudržnosti serves as a place for everyday recreation in Nové Sedlice. The complex includes a football pitch.
