Dobroslavice – Castle Park, Nature and Trails

Castle Park with a Clearly Visible History

Dobroslavice Castle Park is an English-style park dating from 1813 to 1819. Its development can be traced through several preserved elements. The castle chapel was built in 1896 and contains a marble altar from 1910. The park also contains the ruins of a stone bridge built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

A later change was marked by the revitalization of the castle park in 2002 and 2003. The currently documented features include rhododendrons as well as newly planted coniferous and deciduous trees. As a result, exploring the area does not offer merely an abstract view of garden history: the construction period, chapel, bridge ruins and plantings each represent a different phase in the park’s development. At the same time, its classification as a cultural monument remains the key distinction from Dobroslavice’s nature-oriented protected areas.

Protected Areas and Characteristic Landscape

The Jilešovice–Děhylov natural monument protects the dusky large blue butterfly, scientifically known as Maculinea nausithous. The site lies on alluvial deposits in the cadastral areas of Dobroslavice and Děhylov, between Hlučín and Děhylov on the right bank of the Opava River. It is rich in amphibians, reptiles and birds. Thus, alongside the designed castle park, the focus is on a landscape whose value derives above all from its habitats and the species protected there.

Poštovní rybník is also a nature reserve. For visitors interested in natural history, Dobroslavice therefore offers several distinct points of interest: a historic park, a natural monument shaped by alluvial deposits, and another expressly protected area.

Hiking, Cycling and an Educational Trail

The green and yellow hiking trail markings of the Klub českých turistů run through Dobroslavice. There is also a local marking in the direction of Plesná. Another specific route is the educational trail from Dobroslavice to Děhylov, created in 2015. It includes nine stations equipped with information boards. If you would like to experience nature and local history not only at a single point, this educational trail provides an established connection between the two places and complements the color-marked hiking trails.

Cycling routes also pass through Dobroslavice. Two maps of the cycling routes in the Matice Slezské microregion are also displayed in public areas. These maps make the available cycling connections visible in public space, without implying any particular route length or level of difficulty.

Small Cultural Monuments and Regional Tradition

Near the reconciliation crosses of Dobroslavice stands a sandstone column of the Virgin Mary with a Madonna dating from the 19th century. This detail broadens the view beyond the castle park to include smaller religious and historic landmarks in the village. Dobroslavické kosení is part of the area’s traditional event culture. The 14th edition was scheduled for 29 August 2026 from 2 p.m. in the castle park by Pizzeria Kuželna in Dobroslavice.
