Castle, Park and Ecclesiastical History

Ropice Castle was remodelled in the Neoclassical style in 1810. The listed ensemble includes a castle park and the dam of the castle pond. These features make the castle noteworthy not only for its architecture, but also for its surrounding grounds.

A second historical landmark is the parish Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Ropice. It was built in 1806 on the site of the Baroque Church of St Catherine, dating from 1733 to 1736. In the cemetery by the church, the right-hand chapel received new interior and exterior plasterwork and a stone cladding during repairs in 2019. Ropice therefore brings together different periods and types of construction, without reducing the history of the village to a single building.

Ropice on Foot, by Bike and on a Treasure Hunt

For active days, Ropice offers a clearly defined route through the village: the shared path for pedestrians and cyclists connects Třinec, via the Nebory district, with Český Těšín through Ropice. Behind the castle, the path joins Cycle Route 46 from Jihlava to Český Těšín. This allows different forms of transport to be incorporated into exploring the village without limiting the trip to a single attraction.

Another option is the treasure hunt to Ropice. It can be undertaken with an all-terrain pushchair or by bicycle. This is particularly useful if you are looking for an outing where spending time together is the main focus and the choice of transport can remain flexible.

Ropice Golf Resort has a 27-hole complex, which was expanded by a further nine holes in 2023. Both professional and less experienced players can play golf at the resort.
