Pstruží on Ondřejník: Mountain Landscape with History
Pstruží lies on the eastern slope of Mount Ondřejník and combines a striking landscape with a tangible local history. The place was first documented in 1581 in the registers of the Hukvaldy estate. The history of the place therefore reaches well back before the leisure activities on the mountain described here.
The local industrial history is also part of the character of the place. An enamelling factory was founded on the Ondřejnice stream in 1834. This historical picture is complemented by a local folk-art tradition featuring works made of wood, enamel and ceramics. There are 253 years between the first mention in 1581 and the founding of the enamelling factory in 1834. The two dates connect the early history of the place with a later period of industrial history. Those who want to discover not only nature and outdoor activities but also regional craft traditions during their trip will therefore find several different points of interest in Pstruží.
Ski Slopes and Bike Park at Opálená
The Opálená Ski Area is located on the north-eastern slope of Ondřejník, on the shared boundary of the municipalities of Pstruží and Čeladná. The facilities differ significantly in terms of colour, length and skill level: the 500-metre red ski slope is intended for advanced skiers, while the 300-metre blue ski slope is for skiers with intermediate skills. There is also a 500-metre snow park for experienced snowboarders and skiers, as well as a 150-metre children’s park.
When planning an active day, it is also worth taking a look at the Opálená Bike Park. It features a children’s trail and a children’s pump track. A bicycle rental service for children and adults expands this offering.
Nature Experience and the Town Centre
The Skalka educational trail offers a quieter, nature-focused way to explore the area. Ten information boards present the natural features of Skalka and its surroundings. The educational trail therefore provides a different focus from the sports facilities on Ondřejník: the emphasis is on the landscape and its natural characteristics, presented on site through the information boards.
There is also a pastry shop in the centre of Pstruží. This specific connection to the town centre can provide additional guidance when choosing excursions, especially if you are weighing up sports activities, a visit focused on natural history and a stay in the town.
