Jablonec Nad Jizerou – Hiking, Culture and Seasonal Experiences

Jablonec nad Jizerou combines hiking routes with cultural sites, seasonal activities on the Jizera and excursion destinations in the surrounding area. This allows you to plan a trip combining active days, history and swimming activities.

Hiking, Cycling and Water

An 11 km hiking route starts and ends at the square in Jablonec nad Jizerou. It leads past St. Prokop Church, the cultural centre, the Jizera, Přední Blansko, the fire station, a viewpoint and the Sklenařický potok valley before returning to the square. The route therefore forms a circuit through the town.

Another 11 km hiking and cycling tour leads through Jablonec nad Jizerou and Končiny, over Stráž Mountain and through Zimní strana before returning to Jablonec nad Jizerou. This gives you a choice of two routes of equal length but with different focuses: one featuring local and landscape highlights, and one combining hiking and cycling.

The Jizera is navigable by raft primarily in spring, especially in March and April during the snowmelt. Skiareál Kamenec offers a connecting cross-country ski trail to Vysoké nad Jizerou. The seasonal range therefore extends from a water activity linked to the snowmelt to a cross-country skiing connection. The Pilišťata sports complex also has a municipal swimming pool, which has been operating since 1937 and was converted into a bathing facility in the early 1970s.

Church, Museum and Regional Destinations

Regular services can be attended at St. Prokop Church. The Četnická stanice Museum showcases a historic gendarmerie station and can be visited during opening hours or by arranging an individual appointment. The various sites give a stay in Jablonec nad Jizerou both a religious and a local historical dimension.

In the wider region around Jablonec nad Jizerou are Zamek Chojnik Castle and the Spalona Stražnica ruins. The churches of Lázně and Valdštejn are also located there. The surrounding area also features Čertova hora, Zadní Plech and Šeřín mountains, as well as Kamieńczyka Waterfall. These destinations expand the range of options beyond the town, without requiring all excursions to follow the same theme.

On September 19, 2026, the 47th edition of the “KAM NEDOŠEL VELBLOUD” memorial hike will take place in Jablonec nad Jizerou in memory of Vilém Gernert. Hiking routes of 7, 11, 27, 36 and 41 km and cycling routes of 34 and 68 km will be offered. The different distances provide options for shorter and longer days of touring.
