Cultural history around Hornà námÄ›stÃ
On Hornà námÄ›stÃ, you can look through glass panels into a well that is at least 400 years old. Sections of historic paved paths uncovered during archaeological investigations can also be seen in the square. Both details make the square a place where older traces can be viewed directly in today’s urban landscape.
The Catholic Church of sv. Bartoloměje is one of the most significant Baroque buildings in the Tri-Border Area. Its vaults, added between 1764 and 1766, are completely covered with frescoes. The Evangelical Chrám Pokoje (Peace Church) represents a different architectural era. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century in the Neo-Gothic style with Neo-Renaissance elements and is occasionally used as a gallery in addition to its religious purposes.
The Brána Trojzemà Museum is dedicated in its exhibitions to the history of the Tri-Border Area and presents artists from this region. The building also houses an information centre and a multifunctional hall with facilities for film screenings. Brána Trojzemà thus combines historical topics, regional art and various forms of cultural education.
The Grösselova Chapel is also part of the local architectural and commemorative heritage. It was built in 1697 by the citizen and carter Christoph Grössel and his wife Elisabeth and is considered a valuable monument from the late phase of the early Baroque period. The chapel is located at the corner of Žitavská and Nádražnà streets in Hrádek nad Nisou.
Kristýna, routes and viewpoints
Lake Kristýna is used for swimming, fishing and other water sports. There is also a boat rental service at Kristýna. By canoe, you can travel along the Nisa from MachnÃn to the German town of Ostritz.

Those who include cycling in their travel plans will also encounter Cycle Route No. 3039. It is called Pašerácká; today, its name is Nová hřebenovka.
Popova skála, a distinctive rock formation and viewpoint in the Lusatian Mountains above the town, lies near Hrádek nad Nisou. From there, you can see three countries. The Mokřady u Kristýny wetlands provide a quieter natural contrast. They lie in the woods between the Tri-Border Area and Lake Kristýna, are home to interesting aquatic animals and form a peaceful oasis for attentive visitors.
