Dreihacken between mining history and culture

Dreihacken (Tři Sekery) combines the history of mining with distinctive cultural sites. Copper, lead, silver and cobalt ores were mined over a long period in the mining district around Tři Sekery. Mining was already taking place in Tři Sekery in 1538; from 1607, the village had the right to free mining. This development shapes the historic character of the village and connects early mining activity with museums and buildings that are visible today. Museums with different focuses

The Minimuzeum Bouda presents an exhibition of wooden beads and small objects from the municipality of Tři Sekery. The collection thus focuses on local items and the immediate surroundings of the village. The museum is open by prior arrangement with the mayor. A visit can therefore only be planned if the necessary arrangement has been made in advance.

The Muzeum Železné opony in Slatina offers a different historical perspective. It is located in the former border guard barracks. The former border guard complex was acquired by the municipality of Tři Sekery and houses the Muzeum Železné opony on the ground floor. While the Minimuzeum Bouda displays local objects, the historic border guard complex itself is the focus in Slatina. The two cultural destinations therefore complement each other with clearly different themes.

Church and living cultural venue

One of the distinctive cultural sites in Tři Sekery is the church “Kostel Čtrnácti svatých pomocníků v nouzi”. Its furnishings were brought from the dissolved Pauline monastery in Světce near Tachov. The interior of the building therefore points to another site of regional cultural history. The church is also a venue for frequent cultural gatherings. It thus combines distinctive furnishings with continued visible cultural use and complements the museums with a building that brings together history and public village life.

Cycle paths with clear landmarks

Regional cycle route no. 2068 is 11 km long, easy and suitable for touring bicycles. It runs mainly along paved paths, reaches Tři Sekery at kilometre 9.0 and then continues into the village centre. Regional cycle route no. 2069 also passes through Tři Sekery at kilometre 3.9. The length and predominantly paved route of route 2068 also provide concrete reference points for planning a shorter tour by touring bicycle. Those who want to combine Dreihacken with culture can link the cycle path with a visit to the village, the church or one of the two museums. The focus is therefore on the route and its landmarks on the one hand, and on mining and border history as well as local cultural sites on the other.
