Circular Trail Through the Foothill Forests

Jahodov can be discovered via a tourist circular trail, an extensive forest landscape and an unusual craft history. The Jahodovský Circuit is both a tourist circular trail and an excursion route. The hike follows forest paths through the foothill forests and offers resting places. This means that the focus is not just on a single viewpoint, but on a route that reveals the character of the landscape as you walk.

The Jahodovský stream is one of the landscape’s points of reference. It flows through the valley below Jahodov and adds a distinct water feature to the image of the village. The forests of Jahodov cover more than 300 hectares. Tourists and mushroom pickers make their way through them. For planning your excursion, this creates a combination of the circular trail described above, forest paths and an extensive landscape area, without requiring the individual experiences to be combined into an unsupported single route.

Chapel and the History of Bobbin Lace-Making

The local history is also clearly visible in Jahodov. The chapel was built in 1870 from a bequest by Wolfgang Hanuš. It is the only cultural monument in Jahodov. This clear status makes the chapel an important cultural point of reference for the village, whose significance derives from its documented history rather than from a large number of historic buildings.

Another distinctive feature is the development of local crafts. In Jahodov, bobbin lace-making replaced the weaving trade that had died out. In almost every family, women and children worked with bobbin lace pillows in winter. This history therefore describes not only a craft technique, but also an activity carried out by families during the winter. When visiting Jahodov, you will therefore encounter not only the landscape and the chapel, but also a regional history of work and everyday life.

Spálenisko and the Houses of Vršál

The Spálenisko spring can be reached on foot via a forest path. It is located approximately 50 metres from the road and approximately 50 metres from the turn-off to Končiny. Both figures are approximate. For orientation on site, the combination of the forest path, road and turn-off is particularly important; the spring is not described as being directly beside the road.

A further insight into the local architectural history can be found in Vršál. There are several log houses there. Log house No. 29 was built in the 19th century by Ludvík Preclík. The houses in Vršál and the individual, more precisely dated building No. 29 represent two different levels of information: on the one hand, several log houses are mentioned; on the other, the builder and the century are recorded for one specific house.
