Inside, there is a Baroque high altar dating from 1748. Key elements were created by the sculptor František Pacák; the subject depicted is the Transfiguration of the Lord on Mount Tabor. This makes it possible to trace the development of the building over several centuries, without the individual periods merely standing side by side as dates.

Next to the church stands a late Gothic bell tower from the 16th century, incorporated into the cemetery wall. Its three-tiered shingle roof is one of its distinctive architectural features. The tower also houses a bell that was cast in 1557 and renovated in 1564. Village History Between Inn and Literature

Another historical trace leads to the Zájezdní hostinec. The inn, originally built of wood, was constructed in stone toward the end of the 16th century. The walls were about one metre thick, complemented by mighty vaulted ceilings. In the second half of the 19th century, there was a dance hall in the attic. The first theatrical performances by local amateur actors were also held there. The Zájezdní hostinec was one of the oldest taverns in the region and thus represents a village history in which hospitality, social life and local theatre culture belonged together.

The grave of Mančinka in the cemetery of Bílý Újezd recalls another cultural dimension. It is marked by a slender obelisk made of white Carrara marble. Mančinka is associated with Božena Němcová’s novel “The Grandmother”. There is also a statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel from 1870 on the village green known as “Hlavatka”. The renovated Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was consecrated on 8 September 1880.

Cycling Route and Local Recreation Options

Bílý Újezd lies on the Ještětice–Bílý Újezd–Podbřezí cycling route. Anyone wishing to combine their stay with a bike ride will find a clear starting point for their own planning here.
