Třebešov – Village History and Living Tradition

Třebešov combines tangible village history with a living local tradition. Those interested in historical traces, small cultural sites, and a regularly held community event will find several different points of interest here to consider when planning their trip. The history of the village is evident not only in individual monuments, but also in remnants, memorial sites, and an event that has been part of the local annual cycle for many years.

Historical Traces Around Třebešov

The former Třebešov fortress was demolished in 1978. Only faint traces in the terrain remain at its former site. According to the owners, numerous finds of tiles and ceramics have also been discovered there. The site therefore does not appear as a fully preserved complex, but rather as a historical trace whose present character is shaped precisely by the few visible remains.

Another testimony to the history of the village is the Urnfield Culture monument in Třebešov, dating from 1911. On the outskirts of the village, in the direction of Černíkovice, there is also a monument to the legionnaires of Třebešov. The two sites focus on different aspects: one commemorates an archaeological or historical context, while the other commemorates the village's legionnaires. The road layout is helpful for further local orientation: roads III/3211 toward Rychnov nad Kněžnou and III/30211 toward Černíkovice pass through Třebešov.

Chapel, Village Square, and Firefighting History

A glass-fronted firefighting mini-museum is located on the village square. The exhibits include, among other things, a fire pump. The small exhibition site thus places a clear emphasis on the village's technical and community history, without Třebešov needing large museum buildings for this purpose.

The Chapel of St. Wenceslas is also one of the notable features of the village. The village chapel has eclectic architecture; the older Chapel of St. Wenceslas was built in 1835. These two details make the chapel interesting both because of its architectural style and its historical dating. Those wishing to compare different historical themes in Třebešov can view sacred local history here alongside memorial sites, archaeological traces, and the firefighting mini-museum.

Local Tradition: the Matrix Cup

The Matrix Cup is a traditional small-sided football tournament held in Třebešov on the last Saturday of the summer holidays. The tournament has already celebrated its 25th anniversary. The 26th Matrix Cup was announced for 2023; this year refers to planning at that time and is not evidence of a current event schedule. An additional link between local history and regional exploration is the route at the intersection near the archaeological site: there, it runs for approximately 400 metres along cycle route 4352.
