Hořičky combines a remarkable historical heritage with a view that stretches far beyond the village. Highlights include the Baroque Church of the Holy Spirit, the history of the former spa town and the path to Barunčina vyhlídka. This allows you to combine local culture with an excursion into the countryside during your stay, without reducing Hořičky to a single attraction.

Church, spa tradition and local culture

The Church of the Holy Spirit was built in 1714–1715 on the site of an earlier Gothic church. Together with its bell tower and surrounding wall, it is a registered cultural monument. Inside are notable gravestones, which give the church another historical detail alongside its architectural history. The building history, bell tower, surrounding wall and gravestones bring together several historical points of interest in one place.

The history of the village also extends beyond the church. In the 19th century, Hořičky was a popular summer spa resort visited by numerous interesting personalities. Its medical heritage includes the famous bone healer Antonín Pich, as well as the introduction of modern treatment methods for bone and joint disorders at the sanatoriums of MUDr. Alois Kutík and MUDr. Kašpar Rosa. The village theatre Mečov also provides cultural variety with its own theatrical performances, developed jointly with residents and professional actors. The spa tradition, medical heritage and village theatre add distinct accents across local history, healthcare and community culture.

The Hořičská pouť is part of the local tradition. In 2026, it was scheduled to take place in Hořičky from 22 to 24 May. The programme included a funfair with carousels and other attractions, as well as stalls offering fairground snacks and other treats. The Hořičská pouť adds a fixed date with a funfair and snack stalls to the local history.

Barunčina vyhlídka and the landscape around Hořičky

A blue-marked trail leads from Hořičky’s marketplace to the Barunčina vyhlídka viewpoint after approximately 700 metres. It lies at an altitude of 444 metres and has several benches for resting. From there, looking north of Hořičky, you can see the Polish table mountains, the Náchodsko region including Dobrošov and Hejšovina, Adršpašsko, the Orlické hory, Opočno and Česká Skalice.

The hills of Poustka [Brzice] and Kopna [Hajnice-Nesytá] are also located in the immediate surroundings of Hořičky. Further afield in the region are Čáp and Jański Wierch mountains, as well as the Lázně church. The hills belong to the immediate surroundings, while the mountains and church lie farther away in the wider regional area. This keeps these destinations separate as different excursion options.

Getting there and choosing where to stay

Hořičky is accessible by bus; there is no railway connection there.
