Točník combines a visit to a castle, a very short themed trail about bears and a striking landscape below the village. The focal point is Točník Castle, but the travel idea extends beyond the castle grounds: you will find trails, historical traces and an unusual perspective on the interplay between culture and nature. Castles and Special Ways to Visit

At Točník Castle, you can visit the grounds without a guide, using printed texts and a map. This way of touring leaves you free to take in the information at your own pace and focus on the areas that interest you most. The short Medvědí stezka near Točník Castle offers a completely different experience. It focuses on bears and their keeping in Točník, is approximately 100 m long and has 6 stations. The trail runs from the U Dubu car park to the bear enclosure.

Forest Trails and a Route Between Castles

The “From Castle to Castle” route begins and ends at a signposted car park in the municipality of Točník. Along the way lies an old cherry orchard where sheep and goats graze. In addition to its connection with the castles, the route therefore also features a landscape shaped by fruit trees and grazing animals. The Královská cesta is a narrow forest trail. It begins at the road towards Křivoklát and leads from the foot of the rock to Točník Castle. Anyone wishing to combine historical destinations with different types of trail will find a clear contrast here between a signposted circular route and a narrow forest path.

History, Views and Landscape

The history of the village includes the brewery in Točník, which is listed as a protected cultural monument. In the vicinity of Točník, Žebrák Castle was built in the second half of the 13th century as a watch castle at the crossroads of the routes to Křivoklát and Zbiroh. The castle’s historical purpose was therefore closely connected with its location on important routes. Žebrák Castle currently serves as a lookout tower. It can be visited without a guide at the full price of 100 CZK, allowing a visit to the surrounding area to be combined with an independent tour of the castle.

Below the village, the meanders of the Stroupinský stream are among the significant landscape-defining features. They complement the castles and trails with a quieter landscape motif. In Točník, the view is therefore directed not only towards walls and history, but also towards the course of the water, forest paths, an old cherry orchard and the open grazing areas.
