Třebětín: Discover the Church, Landscape, and Cycle Path

Třebětín combines a distinctive elevation with a long local history and concrete opportunities to discover the surrounding area at your own pace. The village is located in the Českomoravská vrchovina, also known as the Hornosázavská pahorkatina. At the same time, Třebětín belongs to the Středočeský kraj and lies approximately 1 km from the border with Vysočina. At 559 metres, Třebětín is the highest-elevation settlement in the Okres Kutná Hora. This gives the village an interesting combination of landscape, cultural history, and outdoor activities.

Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary and Local History

Třebětín is home to the filial Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. The designation filial church identifies it as a church assigned to another parish. The protected church grounds include the church, an enclosing wall, and a cast-iron cross on a stone pedestal. Those interested in historic buildings and smaller sacred sites will find a clearly defined ensemble here, whose individual elements collectively contribute to the character of the village. The clear rectangular building forms and the projecting west tower give the ensemble a distinctive external structure.

The church was originally Late Gothic. In 1874, it was rebuilt and received a tower that replaced the former wooden bell tower. Its architectural form is characterised by a rectangular nave, a rectangular chancel, and a projecting prismatic tower on the west side. Třebětín has been documented since the first half of the 14th century; its church appears in a description of the Diocese of Prague written between 1344 and 1350. Historically, Třebětín was subordinate to the Chřenovice estate. The local history therefore extends well beyond the construction phase of the present tower.

Watercourse, Forests, and Cycle Path

The landscape can also be explored through specific points of interest. The Olešenský potok rises in Třebětín and flows into the Sázava at Ledeč nad Sázavou, 10 km to the south.
