Srbsko amid Forests, Rocks and History

Srbsko combines a distinctive landscape with an unusually far-reaching local history. The municipality lies in the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area, in the swampy Branžež Basin, and is surrounded by forests and rocks. The Kněžmostka stream also rises in Srbsko. This brings historical traces, a protected landscape and active excursion routes together within a compact thematic area. Landscape around the Sokolka Rock Massif

A particularly specific point of reference is the Sokolka rock massif. It is approximately 500 metres long and 200 metres wide, has walls up to 40 metres high and consists of sandstone in various colours. A red-marked trail leads around this imposing rock formation in the vicinity of Srbsko. Its approximate dimensions and the different sandstone colours make Sokolka not just a landscape feature, but also a clearly describable destination within the surrounding area.

Together with the swampy Branžež Basin and the surrounding forests and rocks, this creates a landscape that clearly differs from a purely local or cultural sightseeing experience. Srbsko also has a whole range of leisure facilities. In summer, the village becomes livelier with numerous tourists and cyclists.

From Archaeological Traces to the Chapel

According to archaeological finds, the origins of Srbsko date back to the 13th century. The first written mention of the village dates from 1534. The name Srbsko probably refers to Sorbian colonists who presumably came from Lusatia and founded the settlement. Another visible historical landmark is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, which dates from 1875.

Cycle Paths and Marked Routes

Several documented routes are available for active days. The cycle path from Kněžmost to Srbsko is an 11 km cycling trip in Český ráj. The longer version of the Příhrazy–Branžež circular route reaches Srbsko after 11.5 km and is 16 km long in total.

The Zlatá stezka Českého ráje also passes through Srbsko. The 22 km route runs from Mnichovo Hradiště via Zásadka, Valečov Castle, Drábské světničky, Krásná vyhlídka, Příhrazy and Srbsko to Kost Castle and on to Libošovice. Srbsko therefore appears not only as a single starting point, but also as a stop within a longer sequence of landscape and cultural destinations. The Srbsko stop is also relevant for geographical orientation: it is located in a holiday settlement near the well-known Sokolky rock.
