Nový Ronov Chateau and the History of the Village

Nový Ronov Chateau and estate were built in 1587 between Oskořínek and Jeseník. In 1857, Nový Ronov Chateau was converted into a sugar factory. The sugar factory that grew out of the former Nový Ronov Chateau burned down in 1880. This gives you a local history with clear milestones: the construction, conversion and end of the factory stand as distinct historical stages.

The name of the village also leads back into the past. According to the historian Sedláček, Oskořínek is associated with the wild service tree, a type of rowan that formerly grew here in abundance in extensive groves. The first settlement lay in the direction of Nový Dvůr, near today's houses Nos. 63 and 65; a small fortress belonging to a country nobleman stood there. Oskořínek is considered one of the oldest villages in the Nymburk region.

Further local details include a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the second half of the 18th century. A commemorative avenue of lime trees is also recorded near Oskořínek. Both references add smaller, independent aspects of the village to the history of the chateau, estate and former settlement.
