Kunice: Castle, Natural Monument and Cycle Route

Kunice combines historical discoveries with protected nature and sports-oriented activities. In the village, a restored castle, a Gothic church, a municipal museum and the Lom Chlum natural monument can be combined into a variety of excursions.

Berchtold Castle and historical insights

Berchtold Castle in Kunice is a carefully restored historic property. Today, it serves as a leisure complex with a hotel and restaurant. Castle tours follow a set schedule: guided tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.; advance reservations are required. The Kunice Municipal Museum is also located in the castle. The exhibition focuses on agriculture, forestry and hunting, as well as folk architecture. Lom Chlum is an abandoned, flooded quarry accessible via a tourist trail. The natural monument protects a habitat of significant bird, reptile and amphibian fauna; it is also home to a significant population of protected animal species.

Sports activities and cycling

The H+H Arena has two natural-grass football pitches and a third-generation artificial-turf football pitch. It is used for football tournaments and corporate friendly matches. Together with the Na Zámečku Sports Centre, the H+H football arena in Kunice forms a sports and leisure complex. For cycling navigation, cycle route 0025 is designated as “Kunice–Šmejkalka”.

Vidovice and the history of the surrounding area

Vidovice also has a clearly documented historical connection. A written reference to the noble family bearing the suffix “von Vidovice” has been documented there since 1388. At that time, Vavřinec z Vidovic made Vidovice the centre of his estate. This connection supplements the visible architectural and landscape features with an insight into the village’s older history.
