Discover Jizbice: Nature, Trails and Local History

Jizbice combines water, forest trails and local history. At Písák, nature observation and designated paths take center stage; Zavadilka complements the picture with a swimming pool and historical traces. Water and Nature at Písák

The Koupaliště Zavadilka swimming pool has a 27 × 55 meter concrete pool. The water depth ranges from 0.2 to 2.0 meters. The pool is supplied without recirculation by a constant inflow of water from its own well. The facility includes mobile sanitary facilities with separate toilets, a urinal and showers with running hot and cold water. A snack stand completes the facility. The dimensions and depth range give you specific guidance when including time by the water in your day plan.

Písák Jizbice is open to the public and has visitor furnishings and an educational trail. Visitors should use only the paths and sidewalks. Five specially protected species of newts and frogs occur at Písák. There is also a 410-meter-long children's forest trail with 15 stations. This makes it possible to combine nature observation, a short designated route and orientation using the existing stations.

Forest Trails with Marked Stations

The Stezka Hemžílci od Stračího potoka trail is located in the Vypáleniny forest away from Jizbice and Zavadilka. The Stračí potok stream flows through the forest; springs emerge there and ponds are located there. The trail is marked with a blue “H”. Maps of the route are available at the fire station in Zavadilka and at Písák in Jizbice. The trail was created in 2022 and has 15 figures. The markings, maps, springs, ponds and figures provide the forest trail with several specific points of orientation.

History, Memorial Sites and Regional Traces

The crosses in Jizbice and at Zavadilka have been repaired. The bell tower at Zavadilka was reconstructed; the work was completed in summer 2026. When its roof was dismantled, a glass container with documents about earlier work on the bell tower from 1912 and 1995 was removed. Thus, the memory of earlier repairs is also part of the historical context of the bell tower.

Jizbice was first mentioned in writing in 1223; at that time, Vladyka Pavlík was based there. The regional memorial bench commemorates the Czech typographer and graphic artist Slavoboj Tusar (October 17, 1885–October 5, 1950), who was born in Jizbice. The library in Jizbice offers, among other things, books and brochures on local history. Havranská studánka is a covered spring that is still maintained to this day. For cyclists, the “Z Nymburka do zoo a na zámek Loučeň” tour leads from Loučeň via Jizbice to Čilec. In this way, historical evidence, a well-maintained outdoor site and a regional cycling connection come together.
