Jince between the Brdy Landscape and the Litavka

Jince lies on the edge of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area and combines a protected landscape with remarkable traces of the town’s history. The Litavka River flows through Jince and is therefore just as much a part of the local landscape as the trails that begin right in the town. Hiking Trails with Clear Starting Points

The educational trail “From Jince to the Olympus of the Brdy” begins at Jince railway station. At 17.3 kilometres, it is a longer route; 16 information panels accompany the trail and combine physical activity with informative guidance. This length is a useful reference point when planning a day of hiking. The railway station is therefore not only a prominent orientation point but also the documented starting point of this educational trail.

Another option is the “In Search of the Jince Trilobites” route. It begins at the green-marked hiking trail at the U mostu crossroads in Jince. The “Plešivecká Odyssea” route also starts at U mostu, specifically at the crossroads in the centre of Jince.

History, Music and Industrial Culture

Jince also has a personal and musical side: Josef Slavík was born in house no. 8 in Jince. Every year, the “Slavíkovy Jince” concert is held at the Společenské centrum in his memory. The Church of St Nicholas is protected as a cultural monument and is documented as early as 1352. It is also accessible to people with disabilities. The sacred building’s historical depth and the annual concert highlight two different aspects of local culture.

A special site of technological and industrial history is Huť Barbora. It is a cultural monument and the last surviving charcoal-fired Valon furnace. Guided tours are offered at Huť Barbora. In this way, the site complements Jince’s religious and musical history with a vivid testimony to earlier ironworking. Huť Barbora expands this picture to include Jince’s industrial past, creating a different historical focus from the church and concert.

Biotop Jince is a natural swimming area with a natural water purification system. The grounds also include a well-maintained lawn and a volleyball court. Jince Railway Station and Line 200

Jince railway station is located on line 200 between Beroun and Protivín. The line continues towards Prague and České Budějovice. The railway station therefore complements the trails in the town with another clear orientation point.
